Chateau du Bluizard (Beaujolais)

Chateau du Bluizard is a 31ha domaine based near the "Cru" of Brouilly in the Beaujolais region (between Macon and Lyon, or, if you prefer, between Burgundy and the Northern Rhone Valley). The old "fortified farm" complete with enclosed courtyard, "defensive shooting slots" in the walls, the chateau (as it appears on the label) and the large cellar entered through the hidden cupboard are all still there. Amazingly it has been owned by the same family since 1625! The wine of Beluisard (as it was known then) was well liked by Louis XIV (around 1700AD)!

ll wine is vinified at the Chateau and around of 80% (only the best is sold in bottles. The average age of vines is 50y.o. and all fruit is hand picked from bush vines.
