Fever Tree

'The age of the dismal mixer is over' ANDREW JEFFORD

' The worlds greatest tonic water (and its other mixer friends), the pour at El Bulli and The Fat Duck, has touched down in Australia. Fever-Tree: the tonic is so good it almost doesn't need gin. Almost.' AUSTRALIAN GOURMET TRAVELLER, Jan 2010

'Fever-tree was born of a desire by two British food and beverage enthusiasts to create a mixer pure enough to do justice to the subtle herbaceous accents of finely crafter spirit. They were convinced the poor quality mixers sweetened with chemical and synthetic aromatics were responsible for a downturn in the popularity of what had once been Britain's national drink, the gin and tonic....

Charles Rolls and Tim Warrillow wanted to create a tonic that complemented the flavours of their favourite gins, so they set about sourcing quinine from the Rowanda Congo border and botanical flavours such as marigold extract and bitter orange from Tanzania. The name Fever-Tree was the common term used to describe the Cinchona tree from which quinine, is extracted. The resulting fine beaded Indian tonic water proved so popular that sibling flavours were soon in the pipeline - bitter lemon, ginger ale with ginger from Nigeria and Ecuador and low calorie tonic.' ADELAIDE REVIEW, Oct 2009
