Chateau des Coccinelles (Cotes du Rhone)
Chateau des Coccinelles is located between the Pont du Gard & Pont d'Avignon, an area close to Chateauneuf du Pape with a long history of producing really good Cotes du Rhones. The fruit for both wines is sourced from 100% organically-grown vines where the health of the environment and the purity of the grapes is paramount.
'Coccinelles' means ladybird, an insect widely regarded as a symbol of good plant health
2009 Domaine des Coccinelles Cotes du Rhone![]()
Direct Import Price $14.99 | Dozen Price $13
Its a pretty rare occurrence to see an import of this quality at this price!
This incredible value Cotes du Rhone is made from organically farmed Shiraz and Grenache, to which tiny amounts of Mourvdre, Carignan and cinsault are added. The nose is packed with ripe red berry fruit with hints of chocolate and spice. The palate sees these characters in spades, with good richness, faint tobacco leaf characters and personality very rarely seen at this price. It resembles a Chateauneuf du Pape more than a Cotes du Rhone!
2010 Chateau des Coccinelles Cotes du Rhone![]()
Direct Import Price $22 | Dozen Price $20!
Sourced from older vines, the Chateau de Coccinelles displays spiced red berry fruit in abundance, with dried herb and hints of chocolate in supporting roles. The palate is beautifully spicy, with firmer tannins and even more richness. It displays a little more elegance than its sibling, with more refined fruit & savoury notes. It calls out for grilled meats with family & friends, truly a pleasure to drink.
