2007 Dugat La Gibryotte Bourgogne

This is a very pure and fragrant red, from within and close to the Gevrey Chambertin commune border. It has ripe strawberry and red berry characteristics with gentle spice and hints of dry forest floor. It is ripe flavoured and round, quite concentrated and rich, and excellent for a “Bourgogne” level Burgundy. It’s one to keep for five years or drink soon.

 

2007 Dugat La Gibryotte Gevrey-Chambertin

This wine begins with a wonderfully perfumed nose of succulent dark cherries steeped in Kirsch, blueberry, damp forest floor, cassis and spice. There is even a haunting nuance of rose petal like an Echezeaux. The palate has lovely ripe characteristics with a wonderful balance of complex red fruit and savoury flavours, crisp acidity and a nice level of finely grained tannins giving tightness to the very long finish. It’s rounder and more approachable than the 2006 and an excellent example of a top village Gevrey.

 

2007 Dugat La Gibryotte Gevrey-Chambertin 1er

This is a very attractive, sweet and savoury scented wine with a rich, concentrated and complex palate and great length. There are flavours of black cherry, red berries, fresh cracked black pepper, spice and mocha. The tannins are noticeable yet silky and well balanced, a feature of this vintage. The finely grained, firm tannins are perfectly ripe lending just the right amount of texture to this fairly firm yet medium bodied wine. It has an impressive, lingering and satisfyingly long finish.

 

2007 Dugar La Gibryotte Charmes Chambertin

Although not as big or immediately impressive as the 1er Cru, from the first sniff this wine reveals an incredibly elaborate and intense perfume of violets, raspberry, moss, ripe strawberries and dark chocolate. It is a little more approachable than the sterner 2006, but also incredibly well balanced and poised. The medium bodied palate has a very tight structure of fine, firm tannins, crisp acid and ethereal flavours of chocolate, raspberries and cloves. The complex, layered finish has outstanding persistence. It is a beautiful wine befitting the vineyard name.
