We have had the Morey-Saint-Denis vines since 2010, says Christian Amiot. They come from my family. Previously it was my two brothers – Domaine Pierre Amiot in Morey-Saint-Denis – who had them. The main part of the vines is in Clos Solon and there is a small parcel in Les Brâs, 18 months in barrel, 30% new, and it produces a darker, richer and slightly less muscular wine than the more “Gevrey” style of Morey. From richer soils with red clay, silt, and a moderate amount of limestone. This is fleshier than most Moreys, fuller and with darker fruits and a little minerality. It has lovely purity and balance with great complexity.
