An impeccable balance. Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga d'Alba blend together here in a superlative way. Aroma and finesse with power and body at the same time. Sweet nose, with hints of cherry, black currant and licorice. Rust and roses, firm tannins. This is aged for two years in large casks, no new oak. In this vintage the “reserve” Barolo was blended into this wine to give structure and balance.
'Wonderful aromas of spices and berries. Chili powder with plums. Chinese spices. Full body, ultra-fine tannins and delicious fruit.
Pretty tannin and fruit tension. Drink or hold.'

Mainly from Serralunga, with a lesser percentage from Castiglione Falletto. Dried flowers, old wood, cherry and a little spice and menthol. Full bodied, grainy tannin, clean acidity, almost a juiciness to the fruit, but savoury and leathery in the aftertaste, with very drying tannin. A bit of rugged charm here, and while it kind of grinds along rather than flows, it’s still, a pretty solid offering. A couple of years in bottle is what it needs. Gary Walsh, Wine Front, 31 Aug 2016
