"I haven’t yet read the specifications for this year’s release of Bannockburn Stuart pinot but I’d imagine there’s a high stalk content; it’s all the rage with sappy, stalky, peppery characters. Steer clear or jump on board, according to your preferences. Such a fragrant wine. Almost alarmingly so. No room for ambivalence here. Sweet beetroot and cherry, hung game, spice and all those ashen, herbal, stalky notes. In-your-face but pretty and beautiful at once. Pushes through nicely on the finish. Sweet but overwhelming gamey and spicy. I love it but it won’t be everyone’s cuppa. Medium-term age will be kind." 93 points. CAMPBELL MATTINSON, www.winefront.com.au
