Riesling vines were first planted as part of Henry Best's 'Nursery Block' vineyard in the 1860's and subsequent plantings have simply highlighted the outstanding quality of fragrant fruit from the area in producing wines not only with great longevity, but with the ability to be consumed and enjoyed in their youth.
This new release is lower in alcohol than in previous years, scraping in at 11.5%. The nose shows bright, lifted citrus lime and fresh spring flowers. The palate is lean and elegant, showing great citrus and mineral notes with some of that frangrant, floral character playing out. This is a delicious, racy and refined Aussie riesling which will no doubt benefit from up to a decade in the cellar but a pleasure to drink now with shellfish, in the sun!
