Best's Sparkling Shiraz is only a new addition to the range, first released in 2006, but the Great Western region has become renowned for producing some of the best in the country dating back to the early 1900's when it was labelled Sparkling Burgundy. Winemaker Adam Wadewitz discovered that a certain shiraz block lent itself to the style, and after seeking expert advice from ex-Seppelt winemaker Ian Mackenzie, embarked on producing a wine that not only spoke of its place but also was characteristic of its regional style... and boy did he succeed.
With a nose that you can just keep on smelling, the Sparkling Shiraz is indeed a pleasure to drink. With certain 'Best's' traits of elegance and refinement showing through, this is packed with succulent red cherry and spiced notes, dry with wonderfully formed beads adding to its vibrancy and freshness. This is one wine where one bottle is never enough and a terrific tribute to the great sparkling shiraz.
