The 2010 Segries is the yin to the 2009's yang. Where the 2009 is plush, pretty and ripe, the 2010 comes through with structure and complexity. Roughly the same cepage as the 2009, the 2010 displays more black pepper and fruit intensity with fine grained tannins and structure. Still displaying all the ripe fruit and approachability of the 2009, this wine offers that little bit extra, the extra structure and minimal use of oak bring together an elegant yet intense wine very rarely seen in a wine at this price point. This is great value and a wine that will reward an additional couple of years in the bottle. The Randall's team.
The 2010 Cotes du Rhone red, which is made from 50% Grenache, 30% Syrah and the rest Cinsault and Carignan, with 90% aged in tank and 10% in barrel, displays the vintage’s opulence. Loads of licorice, roasted herbs, sweet black cherries and damp earth intermixed with notions of pepper and spice are present in this medium-bodied, exuberant, ebullient, fruit-driven Cotes du Rhone. It should drink nicely for 2-3 years. The new releases from proprietor Henri de Lanzac are all impressive. ROBERT PARKER, Wine Advocate.
