A premier cru for this price is almost ridiculous! And, as savvy wine buyers know, the commune of St Aubin (wrapped around the top of the Grand Crus of Puligny and Chassagne) makes many wines to rival the great 1ers from its neighbours. Murgers are walls or piles of rock created when a vineyard is cleared of rocks. In this case they are as sharp as dog’s teeth. This is adjacent to Puligny Champ Gain and the higher altitude and very poor soil make this a finer and very elegant expression, although, like all Chavy-Chouet wines not shy in ripeness or concentration.
