Unashamedly bearing all the hallmarks of our very best Rieslings, this youthful wine is beginning to awake. Chalky minerality pervades the delicate bouquet with subtle hints of white nectarines, scented apple blossom and fresh lime-peel. A soft and textured palate of great purity and elegance is underpinned by the typical stoney, chalky minerality derived from the basalt loam/ancient seabed in which the vines have their extensive root-systems. The long, mouthfilling palate is poised and balanced with layers of sweet fruit flavours and bright, innate acidity. The seamless palate finishes long, bone dry and fresh. Excellent, long-term cellaring potential. CRAWFORD RIVER WINES An old favourite and certainly in the running for one of Australia's top Rieslings, this latest release highlights just how good Riesling from western Victoria can be. Aromas of lime rind, white stone fruits and floral notes, the palate is crisp and clean with lovely texture and minerally notes. The finish is quintessentially Aussie with clean, bright acidity and plenty of fresh, vibrant sweet fruit. SCOTT BANKS, Randall's Albert Park
