"This is the slightly higher site of the two 1er Crus and the soil here has slightly more clay content.
This plot was purchased in 1989, and then re-planted in 1991. In my recent experience, the wines from here are equal in quality and very similar in style to 1er Cru Beauregard to the north. The Jean Moreau patch is mid slope with a great SE exposition. The white clay limestone with mother Jurassic rock is the same as the Cote de Nuits. It is almost a luscious wine with a firm restraining belt of tannin and acid keeping the rich fruit from becoming flabby. It has red fruits of raspberry allied to dark cherry and spice nuances." 92 POINTS! Deepish red/purple colour, bright. The aromas are almond like and savoury with an oaky note overlying rich, ripe, dark berry fruit. In the mouth, its medium to full-bodied and quite dense, with firm tannin structure and tightnes. This is bunched up and tight and promises to reveal more if allowed the time. Potential Plus.
