A fresh, ripe and reasonably pretty nose of mostly yellow orchard fruit and floral hints leads to nicely detailed and actually racy middle weight flavors that possess good persistence on the delicious finish. Fontaine seems to always do well with his Bourgogne and 2009 is no exception. 86 Points, BURGHOUND, Feb 2011
This is an incredible value Bourgogne with fruit sourced from a .21 ha patch within Chassagne-Montrachet planted in 1980. Pale, fresh and lively, this keeps with the tradition of the more iconic Fontaine-Gagnard's fresh, racy style. The nose shows hints of lemon/lime zest, tropical notes, spice and floral aromatics. The palate displays perfectly poised acidity, white peach, stonefruit and lemon characters with characteristic Chassagne minerality. Finishing with a nice texture and hints of oak (it has been matured in three year-old oak), it is vinified with the same care and attention as the both the village and premier cru's. This is a bourgogne blanc that hits well above its class and will surely age gracefully over the next five years. The Randall's Team 2009 FONTAINE EX SHIP OFFER
