If you like a richer, more generous style of pinot, Central Otago is hard to go past. It has developed a reputation for producing plush, ripe and incredibly 'likeable' pinot, yet with the demand it also often attracts a higher price. This terrific release from Ant Moore has all those things people love about Otago without the high price and represents excellent value from one of the regions renowned for producing world class, albeit unique, pinot noir.
This is a cracker of an Otago pinot. Displaying lifted aromatics of violets, wild thyme and earthy notes bound up with ripe fruit and red cherry characters. The palate is straight-forward and an impressive floral nose displaying violets and wild thyme, red cherries, plums and spice. It's quite ripe and incredibly attractive... and just wait till you get to the palate! Packed with red cherry, blood plum and spice, is generous and incredibly moreish. Certainly made to drink now, it is hard not to. Attractive packaging rounds out a very good value Central Otago pinot noir and this has to be a must for anyone with even a remote interest in pinot. Very highly recommended. The Randall's Team
