Paradise IV “The Dardel” is a great Geelong shiraz with rich, beautifully ripe and elegant fruit that the region is famous for. It’s the “top of the line” for this 21yo vineyard and is named after the original owner who planted the first Paradise Vineyard vines in 1848. What makes the wine interesting is the deliberate slightly funky / reductive / meaty pepperoni characteristics that lend a “Rhonish” quality to the wine. This is a lovely and complex shiraz that really deserves your attention. Randall Pollard.
"A very stylish St Joseph-like shiraz with a heady, spicy and musky perfume of sweet red and black berries, plums and cherries is lifted by cedary, walnut-like oak and backed by notes of black pepper, cloves, minerals and animal hide. It’s long, finely crafted and supple, with a generous, mouthfilling presence of spicy fruit and savoury oak that builds towards a crescendo at the finish. Supported by silky-fine but genuinely firm tannin, it’s wrapped up by a soft, but refreshing acidity.” 96 Points. Jeremy Oliver.
