Spinifex's Bête Noir is 70% Shiraz from old vine, elevated and lighter textured soils in the Barossa hills blended, in 2010, with 30% Eden Valley Shiraz, the latter adding smoky black fruits, spice and freshness to the broader, concentrated Barossa component. From an outstanding vintage, the fruit was raised in French oak puncheons (30-40% of which were new), 35% whole bunch fermented resulting is a slightly stalky/tangy savoury note. Dark berry primary fruits give a juicy texture giving way to earthy, meaty notes. Finishing long and fresh.
