Unlike some award winning Pinot Noir this is no show pony and needs a touch of air to get going. Yet that reticent nature adds to the appeal, slowing revealing a wine of supreme balance and winemaking execution. Generous fruit without ever feeling sweet or heavy, it also shows commendable intensity from relatively young vines. Kudos to the judging team for picking this one out, and marking winemaker Jonathan Holgate as one to watch in the future.
